We have been using it for a couple weeks
It will help
Shipping to Canada took a month🙁
Not sure why it needs to take that long
I suffer with fat shots and I honestly thought this could do wonders for me. I've had it for about 3-4 weeks, I've used it practicing 2-3 times a week and it's done absolutely nothing but make my swing worse.
Perhaps I haven't given it long it enough but I do not enjoy using it. It's very easy to catch the plate on the back swing, which is frustrating, as it will move. In general it is a complete distraction to have behind the ball.
Missing the plate is one thing, but doing it the correct way is another, and this just about sums up the FatPlate. This is what a fire alarm is to a house fire - it'll alert to a fire, but it won't put it out.
The concept of 'missing' something is negative in itself. Perhaps using this with a PGA Professional during coaching would be great but I would advise against buying this to practice without guidance, because this may cause more swing faults while the training focus is missing the plate.
Complete waste of money for me personally, and I'm very disappointed.
If you're looking for a training aid I'd highly recommend the Hanger by Watson golf.
Whilst FatPlate & StrikeStrips provide instant feedback for both ground contact and swing direction, helping most golfers improve their strike by identifying poor strikes (please see other reviews), we understand that some golfers may require additional help in order to improve their strike.
This help comes in the form of the Assisted Learning Video series. The videos provide you with FREE golf lessons in the form of a series of drills that will help to give you that crucial ‘ball then turf’ strike required when hitting irons.
If you are still having trouble then we even offer you a personal appraisal from Ben Frost, PGA Professional & FatPlate Head of Golf Instruction. Please send a video of your swing (face-on and down-the-line) to and Ben will take a look at your swing and give you some help. email@example.com
Simple Routine To Try
The best way to bring your strike-point closer to the ball is to follow the two simple routine below:-
Without a ball, set up at position 1 with your wedge/most lofted club and using half swings, your first goal is to simply make contact with the ground within the strike-zone whilst missing the FatPlate. If you can do this 5 times then you’re ready to introduce a ball.
Place a ball on position 1, and, still using your wedge/most lofted club and no more than a half swing, your goal now is to achieve 7/10 clean strikes without hitting the FatPlate or marking the StrikeStrip. When you’ve managed to do this you can then increase your swing length.
