Since swapping his clubs for a bag, former European Tour player Sam Walker has caddied for illustrious names such as Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, Lee Westwood & Robert Rock, giving you a fascinating insight into the world of a professional caddy.

Turkish Airlines Open

Tour: European
Venue: The Montgomerie Maxx Royal, Antalya, Turkey
Caddying For: Lee Westwood

Caddying for Lee was an amazing experience and I’m proud that he asked & trusted me to help him read putts, telling him where I see the line.

The weather was 32 degrees Celsius most days which means that the ball travels a lot further than normal – although Lee’s has his yardages on his clubs and does his own distances, the warm weather something made club selection crucial!

My daily routine would see me arrive at the course two hours before our tee time so that I can sort all the pins in the yardage book and and mark all of Lee’s golf balls with his markings.

A great week saw us in contention on the final day, eventually finishing T10.

Q School Final Qualifying Stage

Venue: Lumine Golf Club, Tarragona, Spain
Caddying For: Steve (Webby) Webster

My role for this week was different from with Lee not only as it was cold(!) but because I helped Steve with yardages, distances and working on his swing. A strong wind blew but, even so, the course had been setup for Birdies. Steve has a nice, gentle 30 minute practice warm up routine before teeing off.

Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Tour: European
Venue: Abu Dhabi Golf Club
Caddying For: Thomas Bjorn
Great to be back out caddying this week in Abu Dhabi for tournament working for Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn this year. Awesome golf course and very tricky at times when the wind blows!

Thomas played fantastic on the first two days but we just didn’t hole enough putts. We made the cut which was great, the weekend started very slowly but we kept patience and plugged on to finish -1 for the week.

Thomas’ view: “Lots of positive so let’s go on to Dubai next week with the same attitude.”

Omega Dubai Desert Classic

Tour: European
Venue: Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
Caddying For: Thomas Bjorn
Unbelievable tournament to caddy in and watch. Unfortunately Thomas had to withdraw with a minor injury on the Thursday which was a shame so I decided to go and watch Lee (Westwood) on the Friday to see if he made the cut (he did). I’m always trying to learn every week I’m caddying .

Having a free weekend allowed me to spend some time on the range with @robertrockgolf, @stevenbrowngolf & @liamjames53 using our new #MirrorPlate player’s feedback mirror.

Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment

Tour: European
Venue: Saudi Invitational - Royal Greens G&CC
Caddying For: Thomas Bjorn
Great week in Saudi Arabia, the golf course was absolutely unbelievable and very hard to play with the strong winds. Thomas played some great golf but unfortunately the putter just didn’t work this week.

Lots of positive to take from here to the text tournament though. Now for some time off with the family before the next event with Thomas in Oman.

And finally, thank you to @henrikstenson for my new sunglasses. #iceman #caddielife
