Equipment Assessed. Benross Evolution R Driver

Is Benross the most underrated club manufacturer in golf?

In our latest monthly review Ben Frost takes a look at the Benross EvolutionR driver & see how it compares to the leading manufacturers’ drivers.

What Bridgestone Say

The Evolution R Driver is fitted with a premium Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black TiNi shaft and a bespoke Lamkin UTX grip. Evolution R defines the commitment Benross have to providing excellence at affordable prices.

Utilizing the innovative Vacuum Casting process has allowed Benross engineers to create extremely complex internal geometries, thus refining the feel and acoustic over previous models whilst maintaining the industry leading performance expected of Benross products.

The Evolution R Driver features an improved CT Response Channel that helps boost ball speed across the entire face, minimising distance loss for off-centre strikes. The Evolution R also features the R-Flight Rail which allows the user to modify CG position to promote their desired ball flight.

Key Features

  • Compact 450cc head promotes low spin, penetrating ball flight
  • Improved R-Flight Rail allows user to modify CG position and fine tune ball flight
  • 8 Point Adjustable Hosel to change loft and face angle from 9° to 12°
  • CT Response Channel increases ball speed resulting in greater distance
  • Kuro Kage Black TiNi Shaft as standard
  • Bespoke Lamkin UTX Grip

What We Say

The first surprising thing is actually how well the EVO R performed against the other drivers in terms of numbers.

The carbon fibre clubhead has a modern, pleasing appearance & alignment certainly wasn’t an issue. The club head is also large enough to make you feel that you can have a confident swing at it...

Well, Lots n lots of tech. Great looks, so it meets the eye test. Crazy competitive n saturated market for drivers. I wish I could test all of them n compare numbers. For 99% of us we weigh value/price and performance both. Would love to game this vs my current Tour Edge EXS. Thx for review! *i love reading about lesser know brands. Sub70 for one has really caught my eye. Testing some of their irons now!

Looks like a nice driver… It’s hard to get away from the big brands though. I guess there marketing does them well.

I’m interested in Inesis clubs by Decathlon but can’t see any tests of those anywhere. They look nice though.

I have played with the Benross Evolution irons and hybrid for getting on for 3 years. I wouldn’t change them having played with Titleist, Taylormade previously. I find them to be forgiving and long. I thought about the driver at the time of purchase but was hitting my Callaway well. If I’m lucky enough to win I BBC would be well chuffed
